biography
Sha’ni is a professional, Egyptian-styled bellydancer and instructor based
in the metro Atlanta area. As a featured restaurant performer there, she
has performed at many area venues. Her talents have also been included in
shows and workshop galas in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South and
North Carolinas, Texas, Florida and Maryland. Besides numerous private parties, she has been a guest performer for many special events including CARE (Atlanta), the Atlanta Children’s Homeless Shelter, the Atlanta World Trade Center, The Shepherd Center and HOGGS Against MS in partnership with The Shepherd Center.
She is founder and director of Tiger’s Eye Collective, a collective of world
dance artists. In 2005, she presented her premiere Tiger’s Eye Collective
show, an extremely well-received fundraising event, An Evening with Sha’ni and Friends, at Nicola’s Lebanese Restaurant to raise funds to assist with hurricane relief efforts. Since then, she has mounted six additional shows.
In June 2008, she and the TEC presented A Midsummer Night’s Dream featuring Ava Fleming for a workshop and gala show.
Sha’ni is also a much sought after studio and private instructor.She currently teaches in Riverdale, Fayetteville, Newnan, Scottdale and at the Emory (University) Center for Lifelong University.
In 2007, she was one of the top 48 dancers nominated for Oasis 2007
Honors for Middle Eastern Dance. In 2008, she was nominated for Oasis of Color 2008 Honors for Middle Eastern Dance. In 2008, she also completed the first ever Professionals & Teachers Training Weeklong Intensive with Aziza (Montreal/OR).
